“Bigger Than The Boogie Man”

Have you ever caught yourself humming or singing a song you picked up from a children’s video?  Even worse, have you been caught?  “Hey, Sam, I think I recognize that song . . . wait a minute . . . I know . . . that’s from Veggie Tales, isn’t it?”  When it happened to me I tried to cover it up saying, “I’m not sure, I wasn’t paying attention to what I was singing.”  They replied, “Yeah, I think the Veggie Tale songs are catchy too.”  I was a little embarrassed. »»

“Mission Possible II”

Last week we took a look at what our Mission Possible event might look like and attempted to get a grasp on why we would do a local mission of this nature.  We saw that God is in mission to the world and He is inviting us to join Him in efforts to redeem the world for God’s glory.  A friend of mine likes to put it this way, “We tend to think that the church has a mission, but really it is the other way around . . . the mission of God has a church!”  »»

“Moral Therapeutic Deism”

Gene Elrod blessed my life.  Gene was one of my Elders 15 years ago in mid-Michigan.  He used to have me over to his house to encourage me as a young minister.  We sat together and I listened carefully to his stories about WWII and his days as a young man discovering faith in Christ.  I was proud to know and serve with Gene in ministry.
